Easter Season

Last Sunday, the Gospel reading talked about Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The shepherd is always there to protect and care for the sheep, just as Jesus is for us.

This Sunday, the Gospel reading likens Jesus to being a vine and God the Father is the vine keeper. The message is that if we follow Jesus, we will bear much fruit or be positive people in our thoughts and actions.

ANZAC Day

The students listened to stories and watched videos to deepen their understanding of  ANZAC Day. This week the daily Meditation prayers were based on the soldiers, medical staff and the need for peace in our world.

ANZAC Day is a special day for us to remember those who have served their country to protect others.

The Year 5/6 students composed poems to share their understanding of ANZAC Day...

Anzac Day has come

Poppies growing everywhere

We shall not forget

(Peta)

Many ANZACs died

People died in the war

May they rest in peace

(Sebastian F)

ANZAC blood was spilt

Poppies symbolise respect

Many lives were lost

(Billy)

ANZACs fought for us

The deadliest adventure

We will respect them

(Jay)

England ask for help

Young Australian soldiers

Turks are on the hill

(Annabelle)

What is Anzac Day

Remember the soldier’s fight

And save our country

(Massi)

Boats come to the shore

ANZAC soldiers fill the ground

ANZACS vs Turkey

(Olivia)

ANZAC Day is soon

We remember the first war

Gather around hope

(Julien)

Guns being loaded

Bullets are flying closely

Smoke floats in the air

(Eleni)

Guns and tanks shooting

Smelling the poppies as I remember

Lest we forget

(Anna)

They leave very fast

Bullets are shooting soldiers

They leave in wood boats

(Aaliyah)

In Gallipoli

ANZACS served our country

We remember them

(Oliver)
