Public holiday: Thursday 26 October

Please note the following arrangements for the coming days.

  • Thursday 26 October: Hobart Show Day public holiday and student free day for all students in Kinder to Year 12. The College will be closed on this day.
  • Friday 27 October: The College reopens to all students and staff. This is a normal school day and students are expected to attend their regular classes.

Sun hats for Term 4

With Term 4 now underway and the warmer weather finally upon us, we are enacting our Sun Protection Policy. This means that all students are required to wear the school bucket hat when outside, at recess and lunchtime, and during outdoor PE lessons.

Hats are a compulsory school item in Term 4. If the appropriate sun hat is not worn, students will need to play in shaded areas.

School hats are available for purchase from the St Mary's College Uniform Shop for $15. Please ensure your child's hat is clearly named so that in the event it is misplaced, it can be returned to its rightful owner.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us promote the importance of healthy sun protection practices.

Mary Morgan Wing closed for exams

The Mary Morgan Wing will be off-limits from Thursday 2 November through to Friday 24 November while the TASC exams are being conducted.

We ask that all students please be respectful of anyone using this space, and the College's designated study areas in general, during the exam period.

Please refer to correspondence sent by Mrs Michelle Baker on Monday 16 October for more information pertaining to the Year 11/12 exams.

Fashion models wanted!

Do you aspire to be part of the fashion business? Are you ready to hit the runway in beautiful handmade creations?

The VET Fashion and Design course needs volunteers to model their creations on the evening of Friday 10 November. This is part of the Art Folio exhibition.

If you are in Years 9 or 10, please email Ms Joanna Boyd, jboyd@smc.tas.edu.au to express your interest or to ask questions.

Expressions of interest close this Friday 27 October. After this date, a brief meeting will be held to discuss the relevant details.

World Teachers' Day

On Friday 27 October, Australia will recognises the important role that teachers play in society and in shaping the minds of our young people.

Students and parents are encouraged to send a note of gratitude or appreciation to those teachers who have made a difference or gone above and beyond what was expected. A little gesture is always appreciated and will give them a boost on this special day.

Principal's tour

We have a few spots available on our next Meet the Principal tour, which is scheduled for Friday 3 November. Any prospective families interested in learning more about St Mary's College are warmly invited to attend the tour.

Registrations are essential via our website here. For more information, please view the flyer below or visit the event page via this link
