Maths Awards

Maths Awards

This year we had students from grades 3-6 participating in the Maths Explorer, Maths Games and Maths Olympiads Contests. These contests take place from March- September and students from all over Australia, New Zealand and Australian International schools participate.

Our focus here at Holy Saviour has been building maths problem solving skills and stamina. Each week, classes have a lesson dedicated to problem solving and we have watched as students put in some great efforts and have shown their knowledge and skills developing during these times.

In MLC we joined the  Maths Explorer program and the students had opportunities to work in small teams to complete their problem solving. There was a strong emphasis on discussion and sharing strategies with each other in the Maths Explorer program.

Our highest achievers in the Maths Explorers were...

A special award goes to Ryan. He was leading the Maths Games after two contests and, unfortunately, missed the end of the contests due to being ill. Between you and me, I think he will be the one to watch next year as he comes back ready to compete and show us all his fantastic mathematics skills. Well done Ryan!!

Our Maths Olympiads team also did well. They improved each week and focused on building their problem solving strategies by sharing with each other and trying new strategies to extend their thinking.

Our highest achievers in the Maths Olympiad Team were…
