Years F & 1
Since the beginning of term each day the students have been practicing two movements called superman and dead ant. These movements assist in building the student's core strength which assists them with being able to sit at tables to complete writing or any other tasks. From the beginning of term, I have noticed improvements in each of the students and they are always asking to complete the movements. It is definitely something that can be practised at home too.
In maths this week we have been looking at capacity. We have spent a lot of time completing our math lessons outside so we could compare the capacity of a range of different containers. Students have had a go at comparing 2 and 3 containers and ordering them from holds the least to holds the most.
On Wednesday we started our transition program and welcomed the new foundation students for next year. I was blown away by how excited they were to be at school. We completed some fine motor activities, did some handwriting, looked at some sounds, read the Gruffalo and each student made their own Gruffalo. The students in F/1 were so kind and helpful to our new foundation students. It was great to hear so many of them say they had a great day. We look forward to having them back in two weeks.
