Physical Education

Term 4 - Week 8

Melbourne Football Club came to visit school yesterday. They had a kick with the Year 5 and 6 students and then answered some questions. The players that visited were Jacob Van Rooyen, Kynan Brown, Tom McDonald, Jack Viney, Christian Salem, Harvey Langford and Will Verrall.

Grandparents day - We were blessed to have some special visitors in PE for Grandparents day. Although some grandparents decided to check their grandchildren out from the sidelines, some got in and showed them how it was done.

Year 3 and 4 are participating in a Bike Ed program. Unfortunately I haven't got any photos....it's been pretty busy with 27 students on bikes! Apologies! The Year 4 students' skills have been fantastic and we are starting to venture out on the road in a group. So if you hear 'single file (echo single file)' or 'car behind (echo car behind)', it's just us out on the road and learning the ropes.

Year 5 and 6 have been participating in games to improve their cricket skills and their tactical awareness. They really are improving their thinking and decision making and they've been a pleasure to have out in PE.

The Foundation, Year 2 and 1 students are practising lots of fundamental motor skills, like hitting a tennis ball, bouncing, hitting a ball off a tee with a cricket bat and catching with velcro mits. Any practise you can do at home would help consolidate this and increase their effectiveness.

Swimming - Swimming days will be on Monday the 9th, Tuesday the 10th, Thursday the 12th, Friday the 13th and Monday the 16th. The timetable will be sent home when it is finalised but please assume you are swimming each of these days. Students will need a rashie that covers shoulders / or t-shirt and bathers. It is also advised that students bring their own goggles. It is much more difficult to learn to swim without goggles. We hope to improve the students swimming so they are more prepared over their summer holidays. Students also need a towel - leaving an extra towel in their bag at school might be helpful. Students are welcome to bring thongs, slides, sandles to walk to and from the pool. Students get dressed at school before and after swimming.

Thanks to those parents who have completed the swimming note on PAM. We still have 30 students who haven't got their permission yet.

Have a great week!
