Assistant Principal Update
Thursday 31 October 2024
Dear Families, Students and Community Members,
Welcome to Week 4!
It's fantastic to see everyone back in action! The term is off to an amazing start, with students fully engaged in their studies and diving into the many extracurriculars our college offers.
Year 9’s MEX City Adventure
Our Year 9s recently had an exciting trip to the city for the MEX excursion, exploring famous spots like the Shrine of Remembrance, the MCG, the Queen Victoria Market, and the Old Melbourne Gaol. They even took on a scavenger hunt, building social and independence skills as they navigated the city together. It was a fun and valuable experience for everyone involved!
Exams in Full Swing
It’s officially exam season for our Unit 3 and 4 students, who started off with English this week. Their exams will run over the next four weeks, while Year 10 and 11 students are gearing up for their own assessments. It’s a busy time, and we’re incredibly proud of their dedication and hard work!
Leadership Assembly
Monday’s Leadership Assembly featured speeches from all our MCSC 2025 Leaders, sharing their goals and ideas for the year ahead. Each student did a fantastic job presenting to their peers! Next up is their interview with the Principal and other staff, and we’ll be announcing the 2025 leaders very soon.
Canteen and Lockers Update
Starting next month, the canteen will no longer accept phones as a form of payment, so please plan accordingly.
All mobile phones MUST be kept locked in student lockers during the school day. From 8:55am to 3:10pm.
If your student still needs a lock, they’re available in the office: $16 for new locks and $8 for second-hand. Below, you can see examples of lockers from various year levels, showing the number of currently unlocked lockers.
Year 9 Outdoor Ed Camp
The recent Year 9 Outdoor Education Camp was filled with team-building, skill development, and adventure! Held in Anglesea and Lorne from October 16th to October 18th, 2024, this camp encouraged students to engage with nature, build resilience, and make unforgettable memories with their peers.
Year 7 Q&A Session Recap
Last week’s Q&A for Year 7, 2025, was a big hit, with over 100 attendees! For those who couldn’t join, the recording is available online. It was wonderful to meet so many new families picking up transition packs—welcome to our community! We can’t wait to welcome all our Year 7s on Orientation Day on December 10th.
Here's to another productive and exciting week ahead!
