This term, 1D is diving into an exciting hands-on exploration of the water cycle. As part of our Inquiry unit titled "How Do We Value Water?", we are learning about the importance of water in our daily lives and the science behind the water cycle.
Water Cycle in Ziploc Bags
One of the highlights this term has been our water cycle experiment! Students created their very own Ziploc bags that demonstrate the stages of the water cycle. Using blue food-coloured water, we filled the bags, labelled the key stages—evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection—and placed them on classroom windows. By observing these bags over time, students can see the water cycle in action, with sunlight helping the water evaporate and cool air leading to condensation.
Building Understanding and Curiosity
Through this activity, students have begun to grasp the concept of how water moves through our environment, reinforcing the importance of water conservation. This hands-on experiment is just one way we are making scientific concepts accessible and fun.
We are looking forward to discovering more about how water impacts life globally, and we can’t wait to share our findings with you. Stay tuned for more updates from 1D as we continue to value water and learn through exploration!
