Grandparents Day

We would like to say thank you to all the family and friends who attended our Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The children put a lot of effort into preparing their performance and it was nice to hear how much everyone enjoyed it. It was also lovely watching the students share their work with pride in the classroom.

Maths

Over the past fortnight, we have been focusing on mapping. Students have been introduced to language to describe location, and how to use it to give directions from one point to another. The children showed directions around the farm after reading Rosie's Walk by Pat Hutchins. We also made treasure maps. The class discussed landmarks, what they are and how they can help us find our way around. We then used landmarks on our treasure islands to make a key for our map.

CERES Excursion

Prep C had a wonderful time on their first excursion. I was very proud of the way they conducted themselves on the long bus drive to Brunswick and then in the mixed age groups to complete the activities at CERES. We enjoyed a Welcome to Country, a role play of a Dreamtime story (in fabulous costumes!), a walking trail to enjoy the taste and smell of some native plants, and finally, used ochre to paint symbols which are used to tell stories in indigenous culture. The activities at CERES brought to life many of the topics we have spoken about in class, and overall, it was a fantastic day!

To celebrate World Teachers' Day on Friday, October 25, Mr Webber arranged some THRIVE wellbeing offers for the staff. My car was in need of a clean and I thought 32 little hands would help make the job quicker and easier. I was very grateful to have Prep C work so hard to make it sparkly clean again.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Webber for organising and coordinating the car wash, class parties and coffees for the teachers. It was a lot to organise and the staff were very grateful.
