“This is the best speaker that we have ever had at the gathering…”
“His story really connected with me!”
Such were the reviews from our secondary students last week after hearing from Taylor Forward at the Gathering. Taylor gave a dynamic presentation about his life journey, from his teenage years where he was seeking meaning in all the wrong places, having a near death experience to a search for meaning that had him encounter Christ. Taylor discovered that not only meaning, but also the risk-taking life that he desired, was only to be found in God.
Taylor challenged students to “…unlock their potential by building resilience and daring to drift away from the traps of peer pressure, drugs and alcohol.” Encouraging students to risk it all for Christ, he went on to pray for students who knew there was something more in their lives, that they had not yet unlocked their potential, that they would have the courage to step up and lead. He also prayed for students who were touched by his story, and that they would come to know Christ.
While Taylor was about to leave for Japan the next day to teach drifting, he spent time with students from both Secondary and Primary, giving them an opportunity to sit in his car and talk about what he does. His heart for seeing students come to know Christ shone through in all his conversations and he was greatly encouraged by the worship time of our Secondary students and having the opportunity to talk with them, pray for them and be prayed for.
The students greatly appreciated hearing from Taylor, his story connected with many of the students. During At The Table, students were able to talk about parts of his talk that had impacted on them and challenged them to continue to grow into the young adults that God has designed them to be. We look forward to getting Taylor back in the future.
On Friday 8th November there will be a school-wide casual clothes day led by students in secondary. Together, two Year 8 girls are working to raise both funds and awareness for Destiny Rescue.
Destiny Rescue is a Christian organisation that saves children, particularly girls, out of slavery.
Please remember to bring a gold coin donation.
Thanks.
As part of our fundraising for Destiny Rescue, we are selling cups of hot chips again this Friday (8th) at lunchtime - please note this is for secondary students only.
$5 per cup, please bring in your cash and put your name on the list at Secondary Reception with Mrs Kohler by 9am Friday morning.
