Assistant Principals' Report
HELMETS AND BIKE SAFETY
The new bike track opposite our College on Eminence Boulevard is attracting lots of our students before and after school. While it is great to see students engaged with this new track, we are noticing that not many of the students are wearing a helmet.
We ask parents to check in with their children to ensure that they are wearing their helmets when riding their bikes to and from school. All bike riders, their passengers and scooter riders are required to wear a bike helmet in Victoria.
We have also noticed that students are riding straight across Eminence Boulevard without checking for traffic. Please speak to your child about getting off their bike at the school crossing and walking their bike across the road safely.
For more information about bike safety please see the Transport Victoria website - https://transport.vic.gov.au/road-rules-and-safety/bicycles
STUDENTS ARRIVING TO SCHOOL ON TIME AND READY TO LEARN
All students are required to be in the classroom at 8:45 AM, ready for learning to begin each school day. Many of our students are at the bike track before school and arrive at the classroom after 8:45 AM. If students arrive late to school they will need to collect a late pass from the Primary Years office and will be marked late on Compass. If your child is using the bike track before school, please speak to them about attending school on time.
CURRICULUM DAY - MONDAY 2ND NOVEMEBR
Next Monday is a curriculum day and students are not required at school on this day. Staff will be onsite on Monday working together to look at the new Victorian Curriculum for English and Maths.
FRUIT PROGRAM
We are excited to share with you all that we have partnered with Foodbank to provide fresh fruit and vegetables for our students. We will be receiving boxes of pears, apples and carrots each week, which will be available for students during Brainfood, recess, or lunch.
CHEESY FRIDAY
The Cheesy Friday program will continue in Term 4. This is in partnership with Eat Up Australia. We will continue to provide delicious toasties free of charge to Primary Year students. This initiative aims to support our students and their families, ensuring that students get a nutritious and tasty start to the day. The toasties will be served weekly on Fridays from 8:10 AM, located outside LN2.
BRAINSTORM PRODUCTIONS
Our Prep to Year 4 students will be viewing a performance later this term from Brainstorm Productions called 'Sticks and Stones'. The performance uses engaging live theatre to motivate students and foster connections, stimulating discussion and learning around bullying, cyber safety, and wellbeing.
