Year 5 and 6

Grade 5 - Ryan Condron, Sally Dyett, Kerryn McConachy, Damon Webb, Chris Bird

Grade 6 - Al Straughan, Gill Prentice, Alison Clark, George Samothrakitis

With a long weekend approaching, it is time to take a little break before we head into the incredibly busy and exciting lead up to the end of the year. Please ensure you keep up to date with all the events and activities. A number of our students have been representing the school in sporting and musical endeavours recently - congratulations to all for your efforts.

A2B TRANSIT PROGRAM

Yesterday, the Grade 6s took part in an information session on using public transport, in readiness for the independence that comes with high school. They learnt how to use the PTV app/website, how Google Maps helps and the benefit that comes with using public transport. They also learnt some important safety tips for riding a bike.

YEAR 6 IMAX EXCURSION

On Monday November 11, the Year 6's are travelling to the city to IMAX to view a couple of movies in relation to our Inquiry topic of 'Natural Disasters'. After our earlier excursions this year, the students are keen to catch the train again - please ensure students have been dropped off at Mitcham Station by 8:45am. We will be back before the end of the day, so we will walk back to school from Mitcham Station in the afternoon and students will be dismissed as usual at 3:30pm.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION

Organisation is well under way for our Graduation Ceremony on Monday December 16. Students spent a session this week where we ran through how the night will run and all parents should have also received an information email. Fundraising will continue throughout the term, with our Icy Pole Days always popular. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

YEAR 6 BIKE ED

A reminder to Year 6 parents that our Bike Education program will be commencing in the coming weeks. If you need to borrow a bike or repair the one they have, please do so asap. The Bike Hike is always one of the highlights of the year, no matter a student's riding ability.

YEAR 5 CAPTAINCY APPLICATIONS

The Year 5’s who are applying for captaincy roles in 2025 will be presenting their speeches next Thursday (7th November). We look forward to hearing the students explain to their peers why they would be great leader at Vermont Primary School.
