What to know about the excursion days
On both excursions, the bus will be leaving by 8.55am so we are asking that students arrive at school at around 8:30am. We will make an announcement when it is time to come inside, so we can get ready to walk to the bus together.
The excursion will be going ahead no matter the weather. If rain is forecast, please pack a raincoat (no umbrellas please!) and sunscreen if the weather is warm. Students must be in full school uniform including a school hat.
Students need a small backpack that they will carry around all day. It needs their snack/lunch and water bottle. Please do not pack any heavy thermoses or mega big bottles as the students must carry them around for the day. Students do not need their reading folders on the excursion days or their normal school bags. No students will be allowed to buy a souvenir or food – so do not pack any money for them.
Gunnar from 0BM competed in a national BMX competition over the weekend and performed amazingly well. We all send him a big congratulations!
Miss Mealings had an extra session to fill this week and squeezed in a very silly writing lesson that encouraged students to write about what their teacher should dress up as for Halloween. Have a look at the amazing, creative ideas her students came up with! If you would like to do this at home with your child, please send your teacher a photo so they can see their ideas!
Maths
Addition and subtraction - looking at different ways to solve problems involving addition and subtraction such as using manipulatives, fingers, counting on and partitioning numbers.
Time - learning about telling time on a clock to the hour and half hour.
Reading
Continuing to learn about new sounds and spelling rules. Reading decodable texts, retelling the story and answering questions about the events.

Picture prompt writing response, where students work towards individual writing goals. We will also be preparing to write something special for our buddies in Year 6, but it's top secret until after graduation!
