Our Sensory Garden update

Throughout the year we have been busily continuing our work on our Sensory Garden at the front of the school and alongside the Prep-2  playground area.

This project has been ongoing with many students from last year involved in the investigation, planning and design processes to get this under way. We felt that this part of the school needed some livening up and wanted to create a fun, colourful and interactive space for our students.

During our weekly Garden Club sessions at lunchtimes, our enthusiastic Sustainability leaders, Claire and Isla, together with Planet Savers from various year levels, volunteer students from Prep to Grade 6, plus our amazing team of teachers, have come together to work hard on this project.

Jobs have included: designing artwork and messages for recycled tyres and pavers, painting tyres and pavers, digging, weeding and planting native and indigenous species, composting and watering.

This week we had our Grade 5 Planet Savers involved in painting more recycled tyres and we still have further plans including installing artwork and further planting.

We thank all our students for their efforts and also our fantastic handyman, Clenton, for his knowledge, assistance and hard work in concreting in our two Buddy Benches ( made from recycled plastic), installing the completed pavers and loading and delivering soil for this area.

Please check out our photos of our progress so far and some of our students hard at work.

Thankyou,
