Assistant Principals' Report

ATTENDANCE

As we begin Term 4, we would like to emphasise the importance of regular attendance for your child’s learning and development. Every school day counts, and being present in the classroom every day is crucial for students to stay on track with their learning, especially as we approach the end of the year.

Consistent attendance supports academic success, positive social interactions, and overall well-being. Missing even a few days can disrupt your child’s learning routine and make it harder for them to catch up. We encourage you to prioritise attendance and ensure your child arrives on time and ready to learn each day.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping your child achieve their best!

WORLD TEACHER'S DAY

Australia will celebrate the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 25th October 2024.

Let’s celebrate Australia’s teachers for their skilled work in educating, inspiring and supporting our young people. Make sure to tell teachers what they mean to you. This is your chance to join Australia in celebrating teachers.

Our teachers at Hazel Glen College work tirelessly to support their students with dedication and commitment supporting the learning and wellbeing of our school community.

On Friday 25th October, we welcome you and your children to join us as a College community to show appreciation by emailing via Compass or acknowledging your child’s teachers to recognise their work.

HELMETS

We kindly remind you to be mindful of students riding their bikes or scooters to school. For the safety of all students, it is essential that they wear a helmet while commuting. If your child is not wearing a helmet, they will receive a reminder from their teacher, and we will contact you if the issue continues.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.

HAT'S IN TERM 4

With the warmer weather on the way,  we’d like to remind you that all students are required to wear a Hazel Glen College bucket hat during recess, lunchtime, and sports. Please note that caps are not permitted as part of our uniform policy.

Any student without a bucket hat will be required to remain in shaded areas of the schoolyard during recess and lunch for their safety.

Bucket hats can be purchased from the HGC Main Office for $17.95. Online and in-person purchases can also be made at PSW South Morang.

Your support in ensuring your child brings their bucket hat each day is greatly appreciated.

POSITIVE LEARNING ROUTINES

This year, we have placed a strong focus on Positive Learning Routines across the college. These routines help students stay engaged and connected to their learning in the classroom. It’s been fantastic to see the growth and progress students have shown, and the positive impact these routines are having on their learning.

Please continue to remind your child of the importance of following these routines, as they play a key role in their success and development. We will continue to emphasise them with our students throughout Term 4.
