The Pleasant Day Out is shaping up to be an amazing experience for the school community with loads of fun activities and entertainment, plus heaps of food and drink options to fuel the hungry visitors.
But we can’t run this event without our school community’s support on the day.
We need a total of 175 volunteers across the event to make sure the day runs smoothly and make it enjoyable for the kids.
It would be fabulous if as many families as possible can put their name down to help for an hour at one of the many volunteer spots. Any parent, grandparent, Aunty/Uncle, friends are all welcome to be volunteer as well (18+ please).
Please click on the volunteer sign up page to see the full range of activities that need helpers:

This year, we have been fortunate to have parent helpers attend both our Year 5/6 and Year 3/4 camps. It has been truly wonderful to have their support, not only in assisting with the day-to-day activities, but also in contributing to the smooth running of the camps overall.
Hearing about their experiences and reflections has been equally valuable. Parents bring a unique perspective, and their involvement helps strengthen the sense of community between home and school. We're incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm they bring to these important events in our students' school journey.
From Dexter's dad, Damien:
After attending school camp, I have a whole new appreciation for how much these teachers do for the kids. I’m so grateful as a parent.
From Vaania's mum, Smita
Portsea Camp was such a wonderful experience, and I truly enjoyed every moment of volunteering there. I really appreciate all the effort and care you put into making the camp such a success. It was inspiring to be part of it!
On Monday many families in our community celebrated Diwali. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India and by Indian communities around the world. It symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
People celebrate Diwali by lighting oil lamps called diyas, decorating their homes with rangoli (colorful patterns made with powders or flowers), wearing new clothes, exchanging sweets, and spending time with family. Many also pray for happiness, health, and prosperity.
For children, it’s a joyful time filled with fun, learning, and traditions. Diwali is a chance to celebrate culture, creativity, and kindness.
Happy Diwali!

This week, we were excited to welcome our 2026 Foundation students for their very first transition session. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to begin exploring their new learning environment and start building connections with their future classmates and teachers.
While the students enjoyed activities in the classroom, parents joined the Principal team for an information session. This session included an introduction to Mount Pleasant Road Primary School, our school values, and an overview of what to expect as their child begins their school journey.
We look forward to welcoming our new families back next Wednesday again at 8.30am for another transition session, as we continue to support a smooth and positive start to school life at MPRPS.
We are now in the middle of Walk to School weeks. Each class is tracking how they are going.

To celebrate, MPRPS will be hosting a breakfast for students on Wednesday 29th October (Week 3) before school from 8:30am in the courtyard. Walk, ride or scooter, to school and come and join us for fruit, toast and cereal. To help reduce waste, please bring your own plates, bowls and spoons in a zip-lock bag.
If you are attending, please click the following form to help with catering.
We look forward to seeing you there.
If you know your family will not be returning to MPRPS next year, I would greatly appreciate it if you could notify the school as soon as possible. This information is invaluable in helping us with our class placement planning.
In the coming weeks, we will also be seeking student friendship preferences and would like to offer parents the opportunity to share any relevant information to be considered for their child’s placement in 2026. Please email any such details to me, with the title 'Attention Claudia' to mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au by Friday, 31st October.
While we are unable to accommodate requests for specific teachers, please be assured that we carefully consider all factors to ensure each child is placed in a class where they will thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
As I am a new principal to MPRPS, I am unable to consider historical parent requests from previous years. You will need to make this request again for 2026.
Please understand this is a complex process, with many factors taken into account we will consider a parent request, but please understand it may not be granted.
We’re proud to share that Mia from 5/6E is taking the lead in organising the Toys, Books, Games, and Clothes Stall for our upcoming Pleasant Day Out Trash and Treasure Market.
Mia has shown fantastic initiative and leadership in coordinating donations, helping sort through items, and ensuring everything is ready for the big day. Her enthusiasm and commitment are a wonderful example of student voice and agency in action.
We encourage families to continue donating quality pre-loved items to support the stall. Your contributions will not only help make the event a success but also support our school community. Please deliver these to the office from November 10th.

Next Friday, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a special opportunity to recognise and thank our incredible teachers for the vital work they do every day.
At MPRPS, we are proud of our dedicated teaching team who inspire, support, and nurture our students to grow, learn, and thrive.
Have a wonderful weekend!
