Positive Behaviour for Learning

Yesterday we celebrated the launch of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)!

At Corpus Christi Primary School, we are proud to use a whole-school approach to Positive Behaviour for Learning. This approach helps us create a happy, safe, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

PBL focuses on teaching and recognising the positive behaviours we want to see every day.

Just as children learn reading and  Maths, they also learn how to be respectful, kind, and responsible members of our school community.

During our launch day, students learnt about our new Behaviour Matrix and the expectations that have been identified and implemented across different areas of the school. This matrix helps everyone understand what positive behaviour looks like in the classroom, the playground, and all other school spaces.

Our staff worked together to model these expectations and encouraged students to make positive choices that reflect our shared values.

As part of the celebrations, our children came together to work in cross-age groups, fostering teamwork and connection across year levels. Each group was given one of our school expectations to explore. Together, the students unpacked what their expectation means and discussed ways they can live it out every day at school — in the classroom, on the playground, and in our school community. It was wonderful to see our older students supporting the younger ones and sharing ideas about how we can all make Corpus Christi a safe, respectful, kind, and responsible place to learn and grow.

TOKENS

To acknowledge these positive behaviours, students are now earning tokens for demonstrating our school expectations. At the end of each week, the class with the most tokens will be acknowledged, recognised, and rewarded for their fantastic efforts!

Our new matrix reflects our five key expectations:

We are SAFE

We are RESPECTFUL

We are LEARNERS

We are KIND

We are RESPONSIBLE

Together, these expectations guide how we learn, play, and care for one another — helping every child feel proud to be part of the Corpus Christi community. The children wore a 'splash' of their nominated expectation.

MASCOT WINNER

Congratulations to Finn from Year 1/2 for his winning Mascot entry. Finn created his mascot named Pozzi the PB Parrot. The name Pozzi originating from the word 'Positive.' Pozzi's colours reflected each of our expectations and captured how we could live these in our school community.

Congratulations to all children whose entries were outstanding. We had over 40 entries which reflected creativity and enthusiasm. Although there was a shortlist of five finalists, all students are considered winners for their effort. Using a preferential voting system, Pozzi the PB Parrot led the way. Finn will now be able to bring his mascot to life and Pozzi will become a part of the Corpus Christi community.
