From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to Term 4

Welcome back, everyone, to the last term for 2025.

I hope you had a wonderful break and had the opportunity to spend some quality time as a family and recharge your batteries for what will be a busy but exciting term ahead. So buckle yourself in and let's see what's ahead.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Yesterday we celebrated the launch of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)!

At Corpus Christi Primary School, we are proud to use a whole-school approach to Positive Behaviour for Learning. This approach helps us create a happy, safe, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

PBL focuses on teaching and recognising the positive behaviours we want to see every day-

Being Safe, Respectful, Kind and Responsible Learners.

Be sure to visit our Student Wellbeing page for full details and regular updates and check out our socials at:

School Disco

Next Friday, October 17th, we will hold our School Disco. This is the social event of the year for our children and should prove to be a huge hit! Doors open at 6:30 pm, and children must be collected by 8:00 pm.

THIS WILL BE A MOBILE PHONE-FREE EVENT.

Mobile phones will not be permitted to be taken into the hall.

Our PFA will be assigned various supervision tasks throughout the evening. We kindly ask parents to drop their children off at 6:30 p.m. and return to collect them at 8:00 p.m. sharp.

Our Disco is open only to children in Years Prep-6. The cost is $10.00 per child ($15 per family), payable at the door on the night. Once inside, children will not be permitted to leave the hall until they are collected by their parents at the conclusion.

Our always popular Candy Corner will operate, where children can purchase goodies such as drinks, snacks, and glow sticks!

Please be aware that with the restriction of 'space' due to our building program, there won't be the provision of a 'quiet zone'. Please factor this into your arrangements, and an earlier 'pick-up time' may be beneficial to some.

Our School Disco is always a popular event on the calendar, and this year will be no exception!

Interschool Sport

Our Interschool Sports Program resumes this term with our Year 5/6 children competing in the Footscray District Summer Sports Competition.

Our children will be competing in basketball, bat-tennis, Newcombe, and cricket. The competition commences next Friday, October 17th, and we wish them well.

Multicultural Day

On Wednesday, October 22nd, our children will participate in Corpus Christi Multicultural Day. This is an exciting day when we, as a school community, will celebrate Australia as a multicultural nation. The children will participate in THREE special activities they selected during their Italian lesson. Please be aware of the ingredients in our cooking activities—they are listed below. Feel free to see me if you have any questions.

Pizzelle (Waffle) Making - (plain flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, oil, lemon rind, cooking spray)

Maltese Qassatat - (Puff pastry, ricotta, eggs, salt, pepper)

If you have a spare lemon or two, we would LOVE some donations for our cooking activities.

As a part of the celebrations, our wonderful PFA is organising a special lunch for the children. Order forms will be sent home in the next few days.

To add to the atmosphere, we would love the children to come to school dressed in something that reflects a different culture. In the past, we have been graced with the presence of an Argentinian soccer player, an ancient Roman soldier, a K-Pop star, and even a Disney Princess or two. Colours that represent a nation or a flag (red, white, and green for Italy) can also make a colourful costume. Of course, this is entirely optional, but it makes for a great Class photo.

At 3pm there will be a "Magical  Musical" Parade on the basketball court, which you are welcome to attend.

Kind regards

Year Prep 2026 Transition

The first of our Transition Days for our Year Prep 2026 children will be held on Monday 27th October.

This marks a very special time for our future Prep students and their families as we begin our journey together in learning and community. Transition Days provide a wonderful opportunity for children to explore their new learning environment, meet teachers and classmates, and start feeling at home in our school.

We look forward to welcoming our newest learners and beginning this exciting partnership with families as we prepare for an amazing start to 2026!

Swimming Program

Our Year Prep-4 Swimming Program commences on Wednesday 5th November, and will run for eight (8) consecutive days at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.

Swimming is part of the Physical Education curriculum, and it is expected that all students attend. Students travel to and from the venue by bus each day, and each lesson lasts 43 minutes.

Full details will be provided to families in  the coming days via Operoo .

And if that's not enough...

We've got upcoming incursions from Reptile Encounters and Create It, excursions to Science Works, an ABC Music Concert, Advent celebrations, Year 6 Graduation, and, of course, our End-of-Year Picnic.

Make sure you keep a close eye on our Calendar of Events so you are up-to-date with all the news.

New Website

If you’ve visited our website recently, you may have noticed some subtle updates designed to strengthen our online presence and integrate new technology—mainly on the back end—to make editing and adding content easier. These enhancements should also result in faster loading times and a more responsive experience overall.

These updates have had a flow-on effect on our associated app, which is currently not functioning as expected. Android users should be able to update their version in the coming days, while Apple users will need to wait a little longer as the update undergoes Apple’s review process.

We appreciate your patience during this transition period and look forward to having everything fully up and running soon—along with some further exciting announcements to come!

Photography and Recording Permission

Yesterday, a Photography and Recording Permission Form was sent home with the eldest child in each family. This form seeks parental consent for the collection and use of photographs and/or recordings as per updated MACS policy. Could you please attend to this quickly and return by the end of the week?

Smoking or Vaping on School Premises

As per Department regulation, in Victoria, a person must not smoke or vape on school premises or within 4 metres of any pedestrian access point to school premises. This includes our front car park. Unfortunately, signage at the front of the school was taken down with the demolition, so new signage will be erected again at the front car park access point in the coming days.

Summer Uniform

Please be advsied that children will transition into their summer uniform by the end of Week Two.

If you need uniform requirements, I suggest you order now. Our Summer Collection is on display in the office and ready for purchase .

School Closure Days

Please mark in your diaries the remaining School Closure Days for 2025 -

  • Monday 3rd November: Teacher Professional Practice Day

  • Tuesday 4th November: Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

Have a wonderful week

God Bless

Anthony Hyde
