Steamers Shield Rugby Union Gala Day
Friday 17 October was an excellent day that saw 45 Trinity students from Years 7–10 compete in the annual Rugby Union Gala Day, kindly put on by the Albury Steamers.
Coach Veronica Kimball and Year 11 leader Robert Kelson, worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the event to ensure all students were safe, tackle-ready, and confident for a big day of action.
All three of our teams were clearly well-prepared by Rob, as each went through the day undefeated — an incredible achievement. The closest score of the day came down to a conversion kick against St Paul’s Walla Walla in our 7–10 girls team.
Captain of our girls team Indi Prince was outstanding, leading her side to a loss-free record through courageous runs and huge try-saving tackles — a true captain’s performance. Lucy Hocking impressed everyone with an incredible rookie performance, seamlessly adapting to rugby from her basketball background.
The Year 9–10 boys were a cut above the rest, combining dominant forward play with the flair of quick, elusive backs. Zak Emmett proved a slippery handful, slicing through opponents time and again, while Jack Dodds-Hunt and Anu Segun-Beloved provided relentless, tackle-busting runs that set the platform for the team’s success.
Coach Rob Kelson praised several standout performers including Ewan Brendenkamp, described as a defensive weapon – “running at him looked the same as running at a brick wall.” Anu Beloved was the perfect combination of pace and power on both sides of the ball. Harry Main, the team’s top try scorer, racked up an impressive five tries for the day. Sean Keys, a quiet workhorse and co-captain, led by example through sheer relentlessness in one of the most physical positions on the field.
Veronica Kimball’s Year 7–8 boys were on fire from the start — a well-drilled and energetic team that set the tone early in the competition. Coach feedback highlighted some standout performers such as Charlie Coulter, showing safe hands and unmatched speed, breaking the line repeatedly and making brutal carries on kick returns. Ziggy Clift brought immense physicality, remarkable given his non-rugby background. Feleti Uaisele, a volunteer permit player from outside Trinity, was unstoppable once he gained momentum, making a massive impact throughout the day.

Golf NSW - Lunch Time Launch It
During the first week of Term 4, students and staff had the exciting opportunity to test their golf swing with the Launch It Golf Simulator that visited our school. Everyone had a fantastic time seeing how far they could hit the golf ball both in PE lessons and lunch time!
Our winners showed some impressive power and technique. The Junior School Champion was Joel Laffin (Year 6) with an incredible 138 metres, the Senior School Champion was Beau Gray (Year 9) with a massive 189 metres, and the Staff Champion was Mr Aaron Jory, hitting an impressive 218 metres. Along side a dark horse hitting from the ladies tee Macy Clark smacking a 128 m drive with a 7 iron.
Well done to everyone who had a go and thanks to Cade Webb from golf NSW for the great experience!
