Year 11 Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Rafting Adventure!

What a day! Our Year 11 Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation students hit the water for an epic white-water rafting adventure — and it did not disappoint!

It was an early start and a pretty quiet bus trip as everyone tried to wake up, but as soon as we arrived the energy levels went through the roof. Once the helmets and life jackets were on, the excitement kicked in and the teamwork began.

The students tackled the rapids like pros, paddling hard, cheering each other on, and learning heaps along the way. The instructors were awesome, taking the time to make sure everyone felt confident and safe before taking on the next challenge.

“The rafting trip was really fun and very informative. We stopped often for safety briefings, which helped us feel confident and prepared — even though it sometimes felt like a lot of listening and learning along the way!”Emily

“I’d never been white-water rafting before, and I absolutely loved it. My favourite part was going down the rapids — it was intense and so much fun! The instructors were really helpful and explained everything clearly, especially what to do if we fell out. I’d definitely love to do it again.”Eamonn

After all the action, we wrapped up the day with an epic post-rafting debrief (and some seriously good food) at Gum Tree Pies — the perfect way to finish off an awesome experience.

A huge congratulations to all the students for their positive attitudes, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day. And a massive thank you to Miss Furze, Mr Monaghan, and Wodonga TAFE for making this incredible experience possible!

YEAR 9 PASS Mountain Bike Camps

During Weeks 8 and 9 of Term 3, our three Year 9 PASS classes headed to Beechworth for an action-packed three-day mountain biking camp. Students camped at Lake Sambell Caravan Park and kicked off their adventure by riding the Rail Trail and Flames trails on Day 1, before progressing to the Beechworth MTB Park and the Beechworth loop of the Indigo Epic MTB Trail.

In preparation for the camp, students spent Terms 2 and 3 developing their MTB skills during double practical lessons. The camp provided the perfect opportunity for them to showcase their progress - and it was clear to see how much they had improved! Alongside the practical training, students also studied units on Sports Nutrition and Participating with Safety to ensure they were well-prepared for the physical and technical demands of the camp.

Day 2 saw students take on their choice of trails. Many embraced the challenge of the Indigo Epic Trail - a 22.5km single-track ride from Beechworth to Yackandandah featuring plenty of climbs and flowing downhill sections with some berms on the side. Others chose to further refine their skills on the Beechworth loop of the Epic Trail, building confidence and control on the bike.

Throughout the camp, students displayed outstanding resilience, teamwork, and support for one another. We are so incredibly proud of all of their efforts on this camp as many of them really pushed themselves out of their comfort zones.

A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who made these camps possible: Mr Monaghan, Ms Boyd, Mr Holland, Jacob Cincurak, Macy Clark, Mrs Culligan, and Matt Kelly. Your time, energy, and encouragement are greatly appreciated.

Year 10 Wellness Expo

On Thursday 23 October, Year 10 welcomed Years 7, 8 and 9 to their Wellness Expo in and around the MPH.

This expo is a culmination of a unit of work in PDHPE, centred around the dimensions of health and wellbeing, such as the physical, social, emotional, mental, spiritual and intellectual aspects of health. Students have been collaborating in groups of three, exploring one dimension and researching to source evidence of the benefits of including this in your daily routine. Students then designed an interactive stall to promote and improve this dimension, with many visitors walking away with an improved level wellbeing.

Congratulations to our creative Year 10 students.

Year 7 & 10 Catch Up Vaccinations

A School Catch Up Vaccination program is being conducted at your child’s secondary school for Year 7 and 10 students who have not already received their scheduled year level vaccinations.

In Year 7, students are offered free vaccines for Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (dTpa) and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

In Year 10, students are offered the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine, given as a single dose.

Date of School Catch Up Vaccination Session: Tuesday 18th November 2025

Consent for school vaccination

A vaccination program was held earlier in the year for Year 7 and 10 students. If your child was vaccinated as part of this program, you do not need to do anything further. However, if your child is still due for vaccination and you would like them to be vaccinated on this visit, please provide online consent. If you have already provided consent earlier in the year but your child was absent, Council’s immunisation Team will contact you to ensure consent is still valid – you do not need to provide online consent again.

Consent for each vaccine must be provided by parents/guardians for students to receive free vaccinations at school.

In 2025 parents/guardians can provide consent online for their child’s routine school vaccinations on the NSW School Vaccination Program portal. Select login with Service NSW Account.

To provide online consent you will need:

Read a step-by-step guide on how to provide consent online. Translated guides are available in ArabicKoreanSimplified ChineseTraditional ChineseVietnamese.

If you or your child do not have a Medicare card, consent can still be provided by requesting a paper-based consent form – available on request from your child’s school.

Parents can withdraw consent at any time before vaccination takes place:

  • where consent has been given online, please log-in to the secure NSW Health portal and follow the prompts to withdraw consent, or
  • where consent has been given on the physical consent form, please write to or call the school to advise the student's name, school grade and those vaccines the withdrawn consent applies to.

The benefits of providing consent online:

  • easily update your child’s details
  • receive SMS and/or email notifications when vaccinations are given
  • faster upload of vaccination records to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

For more information on routine school vaccinations, please visit www.health.nsw.gov.au/schoolvaccination.
