Inquiry – Forces

This term our science inquiry will focus on Newton’s Three Laws of Motion. Students will explore each law through engaging class experiments and develop their skills in writing scientific reports to explain what they have learned.

For the first three weeks of term, students will complete weekly homework tasks to consolidate their understanding of each law. A new homework grid will be distributed in Week 4.

Alongside this, students will investigate simple machines such as pulleys, magnets, and levers. Using Lego Technics, they will conduct hands-on experiments to see these concepts in action. 

To conclude the unit, students will collaborate on an exciting group project to design and create a Rube Goldberg Machine, applying their knowledge of forces and simple machines in a creative way.
