The Story of Our Logo & Motto

At St Patrick’s, our Catholic identity is visible not only in how we live our faith each day, but also in the symbols that represent who we are as a community. One of the most meaningful expressions of this is found in our school motto, Strength and Kindliness.

This motto comes from Bishop Daniel Delany, the founder of the Brigidine Sisters, whose legacy continues to inspire our school today. These words capture the spirit of St Brigid of Kildare, known for her courage, compassion, and unwavering faith.

  • Strength reminds us to stand firm in what is right, to show resilience, and to face challenges with faith and determination.
  • Kindliness calls us to act with gentleness, compassion, and love, to see Christ in others and to respond with understanding and care.

Together, Strength and Kindliness guide us to live with both courage and compassion — strong in our beliefs, yet gentle in our actions.

Our school logo also carries deep meaning connected to our Catholic story.

  • The Shamrock reminds us of St Patrick, who used the three-leaf clover to teach about the Holy Trinity — that in one God there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • The Celtic Cross represents faith, life, and light. It is believed that St Patrick combined the Christian cross with the pagan symbol of the sun, helping new believers see the cross as a sign of life and hope.

Both our motto and our logo remind us daily that faith is not just something we learn, but something we live. At St Patrick’s, we strive to show Strength and Kindliness in our learning, our relationships, and our care for others.

St Brigid and St Patrick, guide us in Strength and Kindliness.

Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we pause to remember.Remembrance Day invites us to stop, reflect, and give thanks for the men and women who have served and sacrificed so that we may live in peace and freedom today.

As a Catholic community, we recognise that peace is one of the greatest gifts God calls us to share. Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” On Remembrance Day, we honour all those who have lived out this call through courage, compassion, and service — those who gave their lives in war, and those who continue to work for peace in our world today.

At St Patrick’s, our students took time to reflect on what peace means to them and how they can be peacemakers in their own lives — through kindness, forgiveness, and standing up for what is right. We pray that their actions, no matter how small, will continue to build a world shaped by hope and love.

Lest we forget.
