Yr 11 PE - Wheelchair Basketball

On August 8, the Year 11 VCE Physical Education class took part in a wheelchair basketball incursion. It was a great experience that taught us the need for serious coordination. At first learning how to operate the wheel chair whilst focusing on the game was difficult. Once we all got the hang of it, playing wheelchair basketball was fun. This opportunity was eye opening. We gained a lot of respect for the athletes with a disability, as it requires exceptional skill. All athletes should be included in sports.

The instructor was very kind and told us his life story. This  inspired all of us, and it was a story of resilience and overcoming barriers. One of the best parts of the incursion was the atmosphere he created within the group. There was lots of laughter, cheering, and even a bit of friendly competition as we tried to outplay each other on the court. The game pushed us to communicate more and rely on each other in ways we hadn’t before. Even when we made mistakes, the energy stayed positive and encouraging. It showed us that sport can be just as much about connection and enjoyment as it is about skill.

CGSAV Aerobics

On August 22nd, the aerobics teams went over to OLMC in Heidelberg to compete in the GCSAV Aerobics Competition. Throughout the day, we all performed our routines in front of judges and supporters, showcasing the hard work and dedication we had put into our routines over the past weeks. The event was filled with energy and excitement, with everyone not only striving for strong results but also cheering on their peers and celebrating each performance. It was a valuable experience for everyone involved, giving the teams the chance to represent our school with pride. Congratulations to our Junior B team for getting 3rd place and our Senior C team for their 2nd place. We couldn’t have been happier for them. Thank you, Ms Neville and Ms Brunt, for coaching us and for the tireless efforts you put into getting us ready for the competition.
