Brigidine Day

Brigidine Day:  Honouring Our Inspiration, St Brigid

Brigidine Day is a special occasion in our school calendar, celebrating the life, mission, and enduring legacy of Saint Brigid — one of Ireland’s patron saints and a symbol of faith, hospitality, and learning.

The story of the Brigidine Sisters began in 1807, when Bishop Daniel Delany of Kildare, Ireland, invited six women to form a new religious community in Tullow. He named them the Sisters of St Brigid, after the great 5th-century saint whose spirit of compassion and service continues to inspire us today.

Brigidine Day is also our biggest fundraising event of the year for the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP).

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Killester community for your generosity and support in raising funds for such a worthy cause. Your kindness truly makes a difference.
