Walk to School - Go for Gold Competition

The ‘Go for Gold’ Glen Eira Council’s Active School Competition Fitbit winner was Lara S (Year 2).

Congratulations Lara and well done to everyone who made a special effort to walk, ride or scoot to school more regularly.

The competition ran for the month of October and some interesting data was collected. Mr Mackay and 6A used this data in a very authentic maths session to collate our results.

6A found that the class that had the most participation in the junior grades was 2D (498) and in the senior grades it was 6B (463).

Whole school total of ALL the walks/rides/scoots to school in October - 6932.

Run Antarctica – World Record Attempt for the Longest Polar Run

Last week we were very fortunate to have Donna Urquhart visit our school to talk about her upcoming challenge to break the world record for the longest polar run in Antarctica.

Donna provided an insight into the purpose of her run, the conditions that she will face and shared a very interesting and IMPORTANT story about ‘thoughts’. (See below)

Thank you, Donna, for visiting our school. All of us at CSPS wish you the very best of luck!

Thank you to Mr Simpson and Darren Lawrence (Dad of Charli in 2C) for helping facilitate Donna’s visit.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

2XU Wellness Run

Good luck to all our CSPS participants on Sunday.

“I am looking forward to the run. I am doing the 5km and I have raised $1080 so far for Beyond Blue. I did a 2.2km and a 4.4km run in training. I also did a 5km run in 33 minutes and 50 seconds with Charlotte and Charlotte’s Dad.” Asher D (Year 2)

“I am looking forward to crossing the finish line with Miss Bretman and my 10-month-old son Oliver.” Mr Mackay

“I am looking forward to the day. The atmosphere will be electric!” Mr O’Grady

“I can’t wait to see many of our CSPS community on the day. We are running for a great cause!” Mr Cooper

“I have trained twice. I have done 5km twice. I am really excited about it because I have heard great things about it. I know that while I’m doing it, I know that I am helping people who need it.” Charlotte (Year 3)

Teachers and students who are participating. Please bring in your t-shirt and medal on Friday 8th December for our inaugural 2XU Wellness Run debrief and photo at recess.
