CNPS Art Show

It has been an exciting week at CNPS with our annual Art Show. The Art Show has been a wonderful celebration of the student’s achievements in Visual Arts this year. We had our Glow Gallery with insect sculptures, flowers and snails. In the Huddle, we had highlights such as clay pieces, up-cycled bird sculptures, weaving, puppets and portraits.

It was wonderful to have so many families visit the Art Show and see the students proudly share their artwork. A big thank you to the families and staff who supported the Art Show so the students could have this wonderful experience. In particular, I would like to thank Kathie Witter, Mary Tous and Arsheeta Oberoi for their wonderful support in setting up the displays of student work.

Music Room News

The students of Prep A and B have bravely put on a wonderful performance at Assembly.  They danced and sang to the song “See You Later Alligator”.  It was amazing to watch the little ones sing and dance so confidently.  A video of their performance has been uploaded to Seesaw and is accessible.

The students are eagerly awaiting and preparing for the School Concert 2023, which is scheduled for December 6th from 1.30pm in The Huddle.  All parents and caregivers are welcome.

EAL/D News

The students from Grades 3-6 who attend English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) classes have been working very hard to improve their skills in English.  They have been learning to communicate by working on their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.  The students enjoy their time at these classes as there are a variety of activities to keep the children engaged.  The first photo is one of students holding hand puppets which they described using multiple Adjectives.  The second photo is a Headband Guessing game which targets improving their vocabulary by asking questions and obtaining clues about the picture that is on their forehead.

Digimaker CodingProgram

Digimaker has been running its computer programming club for the past two terms. Students have had fun making games while getting introduced to fundamental programming concepts. Some games that students have made include Flappy Unicorn, a quiz on countries and their capitals, a donut maze, a classic cross-the-road game, a popularity contest, and a frog hunt. Projects include challenges at the end to encourage feature development of the base game, thereby building one’s creativity and logical thinking. Digimaker will continue running their programming and coding lessons at lunchtime on Fridays from 1.40pm - 2.25pm in Term 1 2024.
