As part of our Inquiry Unit “Animals and Habitats”, foundation students had a great learning experience at Myuna Farm. They had a hands-on sensory experience while patting and interacting with baby animals. They also got the chance to milk the goat and feed other animals. A walk around the paddock was also part of the day where they could see different Australian farm animals. The highlight of the day was the train ride and the pony ride.
During our Literacy class, our students had the opportunity to explore various types of habitats and their significance to animals and their survival. We also gained knowledge about the negative impacts that humans have on these habitats, such as deforestation, sea pollution, and global warming. Currently, we are focusing on sustainability and ways in which we can contribute to preserving our environment and the natural habitats of animals.
Students have enjoyed exploring data and statistics over the past few weeks. We had meaningful discussions on the importance of asking questions and recording the responses. We also learned how to arrange information in a tabular form and then interpret it. Creating our own data charts using the modes of transport and our favourite shapes was a lot of fun!
