Elijah Performance 18-19 November - Bathurst & Orange
Koristers had a busy weekend, performing in two concerts of Elijah by Mendelssohn. Koristers featured in an unaccompanied item as well as singing with the combined chorus (Willoughby Singers, Allegri Singers and Orange Chamber Choir) and the Orange Symphony Orchestra. Despite the long hours of concentration and hot conditions in both venues, the students represented themselves and the School in an exemplary manner. Our young singers received many compliments on their beautiful singing and conduct from audience and other musicians alike. Thank you to all our Koristers and families for making the effort to be a part of this fabulous community music event.
Katie Sinclair – Koristers Director
In addition to our Koristers, performing so beautifully, several of our orchestra members played in the orchestra for Elijah. Congratulations to Angus Croft, Michelle Hayes and Alex Caban, who mastered some very difficult music!
The anticipation continues – what will the musical for 2024 be?
There are only 10 options remaining on the board with staff and students eagerly checking each day to see what has been removed and what remains.
There are only a few days left until all will be revealed. Whatever the final outcome, the reveal wall has proved to be a bit of fun amongst the Yearly Examinations and final days of Term and has certainly generated a lot of discussion around the Music Centre. Stay tuned for the announcement next week!
4pm SUNDAY 3 DECEMBER, HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
This term our choirs and orchestra students are presenting a traditional Christmas Carol service, with free admission to the public. We are hoping that this event will provide us the opportunity to spread a bit of Christmas cheer and also to foster links with the broader Orange community. Further information has been emailed to our performers. Please come along and enjoy the Christmas Spirit!
Congratulations to Michelle Hayes and Alex Caban who have been selected to attend the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp. Positions at National Music Camp are hotly contested amongst the elite of Australia’s young musicians. Both Michelle and Alex have worked with diligence and maturity and their sustained efforts have been recognised at a national level. Congratulations! We are super proud of you both!
The Kinross Wolaroi School Orchestra are excited to be involved in next year’s Cultured Orchestra project, part of the 2024 Chamber Music Festival. Cultured Orchestra is a massed youth orchestra, drawing musicians from the Central West of NSW. The orchestra will be performing in the Southcourt area outside the Regional Art Gallery on Saturday 2 March, 2024. There will be a series of rehearsals for this project, including intensive rehearsals on Wednesday 24 January and Thursday 25 January. Further information to follow. Please save these dates!
