Tutor Learning Initiative

We have had contact from several principals who have reported that the dollar amount in the SRP for the Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) has been significantly reduced for next year.  At a recent SRP stakeholder meeting, funding for the 2024 TLI program was explained. Key points for consideration are:

  • In determining TLI funding for schools, there has been a different approach to the allocation of funding based on a conceptual switch from a whole population model (as applied during lockdown and post lockdown) to a revised model based on need from NAPLAN data sets.
  • The 2024 Indicative SRP TLI funding allocation for mainstream schools is based on 2023 NAPLAN results.
  • Special and Language Schools will continue to receive TLI funding based on an alternative calculation model to that of mainstream schools.
  • The process for calculating TLI funding for mainstream schools (Primary, Secondary and Combined Schools) is based on calculated counts taking into consideration certain variables and factors.
  • For schools who do not have 2023 NAPLAN data sets special business rules have been applied to determine funding amounts.
  • For special schools, the funding is calculated on the number of enrolments and social disadvantage enrolments.
  • The minimum funding allocation is set at $26,500 for primary schools and $30,000 for secondary schools.  This allocation provides approximately 0.2 FTE staffing for a school.

At the SRP stakeholders meeting the funding formulas were presented in detail and it is indeed a complex model and calculation approach which are explained in detail in the 2024 Indicative SRP Guide
