Victorian President's Report

Tina King- APF Victorian President

Our Federal President, Chris Chant and I had opportunity to attend the WA branch AGM & Seminar last week held in Perth.  The visit gave us an opportunity to engage with our WA colleagues and share matters pertinent to our respective states.  Additionally to meeting with the PFWA State Council, we heard from several very engaging speakers including Glen Mitchell (former ABC Sports Commentator) who addressed mental health issues and shared his compelling personal journey.

For those who attended our AGM several weeks ago, you would be aware of the announcement made that our valued and respected Industrial Officer, Mark Arkinstall has made the decision to retire next year.  Mark has been a long-time member, supporter, advocate and employee of the APF and his support to members has been second to none.  We have valued and cherished his knowledge, wisdom and capacity to provide hope for members at times of need and in particular when facing despair and anguish.  His service and commitment to the APF has simply been exemplary and whilst he will be pursuing new adventures that retirement will afford, we know that his loyalty and service to the APF will long continue.

As a result of Mark’s announcement, we are on a recruitment campaign for a replacement.  We encourage you to reach out to your principal network and colleagues for anyone who may be interested.  For further information refer to the page contained within the newsletter (here) or please contact me directly for a confidential chat.
