Tue 21 - Wed 29 November
The purpose of Step up is to help maximise the learning opportunities and delivery of the Unit 3 VCE / VM Curriculum Program. Teachers will have the opportunity to start teaching Unit 3 and provide students with targeted holiday homework. This is to ensure students at the commencement of the following academic year have a solid foundation of required key knowledge and key skills to build upon for the rest of Unit 3.
Starting teaching Unit 3 in the previous year, will mean more learning time can be spent on exam preparation and exam revision the following year, as well as increase time devoted to SACs and SAC preparation. The Step-Up program for Year 11 VCE/VM students (Year 12 students in 2024) is a 7-
day program starting on Tuesday 21 November and will conclude with a Year 11 Academic Review Conference on Thursday 30 November.

Thu 30 November
All Year 11 VCE and VM students are required to attend a 15-minute student led conference with their Explore teacher on 30 November. The purpose of this conference is for students to critically reflect and review their exam preparation and performance, as well as the overall academic school year. In addition, students will set learning growth goals for Term 1 2024 based on areas of improvement and discussions during the conference. Parents are encouraged to attend these conferences.
These conferences are compulsory for all VCE & VM students, and any student who does not attend may be required to attend the review meeting in Week 10.

All Year 11 and 12 VCE, VM and VPC subject teachers will be providing important holiday homework to students (2024 VCE and VM students) during the upcoming Step Up and Transition Days. Students can reasonably be expected to have up to 3-5 hours of schoolwork to do over the holiday break for each subject.
Holiday homework must be completed and submitted on the first class for each subject upon students return to school in 2024. Failure to complete holiday homework may result in attending a learning recovery session after school.
When? Friday 1 December
Who? All current Year 9 and 10 students are required to attend.
Purpose: The Year 9 into 10 and Year 10 into 11 Transition Days are a pivotal event designed to ease the shift from Year 9/10 into VCE/VM. This day serves as a bridge, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities that come with entering their final years of secondary school.
Hosted by the Senior School Team, the day will provide students with an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the achievements and highlights of the year, as well establish clear expectations around learning and attendance. Students will engage with several workshops designed to build learning confidence and create a positive mindset in preparing them for 2024.
Students are required to bring writing materials and notebook / paper for the day.
