Minecraft Competition
This term, students from all year levels participated in a Victoria-wide Minecraft competition. Whilst we were unsuccessful in placing for a prize, the experience and the relationships built during the competition far outweighed any disappointment students may have felt. We will be running the competition again next year, so if you love Minecraft and playing Minecraft with like-minded people, look out for my post next year. Can’t wait to see you there!
Below is some student feedback about their experiences this term:
It was a fun experience building creations in Minecraft with people that I normally wouldn’t build. While for our group we were either building a house or making a river, we got a finished product by the end of it that we are happy with. It was difficult actually having everybody get on the world, especially over the holidays when everybody is busy doing other things, but we are satisfied with the complete build. If anybody likes Minecraft and in particular the creative freedom from being able to build what you want, I suggest signing up for the Minecraft competition when it runs again because it is a very fun experience and you will get to meet other people that enjoy Minecraft too. – Sophie Beltrame
I really enjoyed the Minecraft build challenge. It was a fun contest which we definitely tried too hard to win 🙂. My team (The Premium Chocolate Bars) built a giant tree run by scientists to gather energy. I (and my team) had a lot of fun doing it, and I'd love to do it again next year! -Nadia Tan 🙂
Me and my friends Brianna, Eloise and Bethie had a great time in the competition my favourite part was just being able to build and do what I love. It was a group activity and every week we would meet up at lunch and work on the build I think we worked very well as a team mainly because we were all friends so that made us work even better together and the teachers made it super fun by letting us just hang out and have a great time together.
The design brief for the competition was “sustainable cities”. Our team decided to build an eco-friendly farm because we thought that animals and crops would be very eco-friendly . We made it mainly out of bamboo and other materials like wood planks because they are very sustainable. I didn’t even think about competing because it was just something fun to do with my friends. I recommend not thinking too much about the competing part and just being proud of how well you are doing and the amazing memories that you will get out of it so even if you’re not a pro at Minecraft you will definitely love it and get heaps out of it. - Ashley Thomas.
