Student Led Conversations and Semester 2 Reports

This week we have proudly shared the students' progress and achievements with you through the Student Led Conversations which were held today and through their School Reports which were emailed home on Monday. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child's learning and achievements from across this semester. If you did not receive your child's school report please contact the school office.

Here are some pictures from our Student Led Conversations this afternoon:

'Little Learners Love Literacy'- New Phonics Approach for 2024

This week our Prep to Year 2 teachers attended some professional learning related to a new phonics approach called Little Learners Love Literacy. This is an evidence-based structured literacy program which encompasses explicit teaching of phonics using a 'Science of Reading' approach which will become part of our Literacy Program in 2024. Little Learners Love Literacy uses a range of decodable books to explicitly teach the science behind learning to read and spell. It covers the big ideas of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension to younger readers. This will sit alongside the teaching of 'phonics in context' through literature that we value as part of a rich reading program at Trinity.  As well as attending the professional learning we have been fortunate to purchase a range of readers and resources for our Prep to Year 2 students for use in 2024.

Shared Stories Anthology

We are excited to present our students who contributed to the Shared Stories Anthology with their own copy of this magnificent publication. Students from across the school created writing and art work around the theme 'Inspire'. It is very exciting to have our students as published authors and they are to be commended for their contributions to this 500 page collection.  There is a second book being published with all Trinity students' art work and stories. The main anthology and additonal book will be presented to our students at our final school assembly next week.

See below for a PDF version of some of the submissions from Catholic primary and secondary schools across Melbourne. You will find some of our students from Years 5 and 6 on the following pages:

Official Australian Maths Competition Certificates

Earlier this year students from Trinity participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This week they were presented with their official certificates and results. Congratulations to the following students, particularly Douglas in Year 6 who was awarded a 'High Distinction' and 'Best in the School'.

'Meet the Teacher' Morning

On Tuesday 12th December students will have an opportunity to meet their class teacher and students who will be in their class for 2024.  This is a very exciting time for students as we begin to transition and prepare for next year.

Staying in touch...

As we approach the end of the year, as always if you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to make contact with your child's teacher. You are also welcome to come and see me about any aspect of learning at Trinity.
