School Wide Positive Behaviour

We are excited to share some updates about the rollout of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) at the College. This approach is all about creating a safe positive, and consistent learning environment where every student can thrive.

  1. Being Consistent- One of the most important parts of SWPBS is making sure expectations are clear and consistent across the whole school. This means that no matter what classroom or space students are in, they know what is expected of them and staff respond in the same way. Consistency helps students feel secure and supported, while also building a stronger learning culture.
  2. Your Feedback in Action- At the end of last term, families and students had the chance to give feedback on our SWPBS framework. We really valued this input, and many of your ideas have been included in the updated documentation. Thank you for helping us shape this together.
  3. The Vault – Our Reward System - We are very excited to be introducing The Vault that will be arriving over the coming weeks. This is our new reward system, designed to recognise students who are regularly showing our College values and making positive choices. By celebrating these behaviours, we encourage students to keep building the kind of school community we are all proud to be part of.
  4. Using Compass Chronicles - Compass chronicles are currently in the process of being developed. These are short notes that record both positive behaviours and times when students may need extra support. This helps us track patterns, celebrate student success, and provide timely support when needed. Over time, this will give us a clear picture of how we can best support all students.

We are looking forward to seeing these positive changes grow stronger as SWPBS becomes a natural part of everyday life at the College.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week and Welcoming Our New Diversity Club Captains

In this edition, the College is excited to highlight our extended NAIDOC Week celebrations and introduce our new Diversity Club Captains.

During the recent school holidays, members of the Wellbeing Team joined Cranbourne East Primary School to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a special tree planting event on Bunurong Country on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Sarah, Nicole, and Hannah from the Wellbeing Team had the pleasure of meeting Angela Varghese, the Primary School’s School Captain. Angela shared her enthusiasm about transitioning to CESC in 2026.

As NAIDOC Week falls during the school holidays, our College chose to extend the celebrations into Week 2. Our students participated in a range of activities to honour and recognise First Nations culture and heritage, including:

  • Our Koorie students visiting Cranbourne East Primary School to read First Nations stories to Prep students. They demonstrated outstanding leadership, kindness, and pride in their culture while connecting with the younger students.
  • Hosting a morning tea for Koorie students, families, and community members in collaboration with Cranbourne East Primary School. The event began with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by traditional Koorie catering- including damper! - and an Indigenous art activity where students painted pebbles.
  • The House Culture and PE teams led traditional Indigenous lunchtime games in the Agora, inviting all students to join in and celebrate together.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week this year was truly a meaningful time for CESC - a week full of connection, learning, and celebration. It marked the first official NAIDOC Week celebrations at our College, and we look forward to continuing this important tradition in the years ahead.

Introducing Our Diversity Club Captains

We’re excited to announce the new captains of the Diversity Club for this school year: Hugo Varela and Aidan Taylor! This club celebrates diversity and creates a welcoming space for everyone, including both staff and senior students (for now!). The Diversity Club meets every Tuesday during senior lunch, and everyone is invited to join in celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, diverse cultures, identities, and experiences.

Here’s a message from our Diversity Club captains:

Hugo Varela: “Hiya! I’m Hugo, a Year 12 VCE student and new Diversity Club captain. I hope to make the club a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone with creative ideas!”

Aidan Taylor: “As Diversity Club Captain, I aim to create an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and respected. My goal is to lead meaningful conversations, celebrate different identities, and inspire positive change within our school community.”

As we continue to grow as a community, events like NAIDOC Week, Harmony Day and initiatives like the Diversity Club remind us of the importance of inclusion, respect, and cultural celebration. We are proud of our students and staff for their commitment to building a school environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to sharing more moments of learning, leadership, and connection throughout the year.
