Book Week and Middle of Term Breakfast
Our school's Book Week activities were so enjoyable, bringing stories to life and fostering a genuine love of reading throughout our community. The celebration showcased the creativity, enthusiasm, and literary passion of our students, staff, and families.
The festivities began on a delicious note with the Parents & Friends committee providing a wonderful Middle of Term breakfast featuring fresh, warm crumpets. This thoughtful gesture set the perfect tone for the day, bringing families together and energising everyone for the exciting activities ahead. The aroma of toasted crumpets filled the air as students, parents, and teachers gathered to kick off what would prove to be an unforgettable celebration.
The highlight of our Book Week was undoubtedly the spectacular book character parade. Students arrived dressed as their favourite literary characters, and the creativity on display was simply breathtaking. From classic fairy tale protagonists to modern graphic novel heroes, contemporary picture book characters to timeless chapter book favourites, our school transformed into a living library.
The attention to detail in the costumes was remarkable. We saw everything from elaborate handmade creations to clever, simple interpretations that perfectly captured the essence of beloved characters. Students beamed with pride as they paraded around, embodying the stories they love. The joy and excitement were infectious, with cheers and applause echoing throughout the school grounds as each character made their grand entrance.
Our "read around" activity took students on a literary adventure throughout the school. Different locations were transformed into cozy reading nooks where students could discover award-winning books across various genres and age groups. This rotating activity allowed students to sample different stories, meet new characters, and perhaps discover their next favourite book.
Teachers and volunteers brought the books to life through engaging read-alouds, creating memorable moments that will inspire students' reading journeys long after Book Week has ended.
Our celebration's success was made possible through the dedication and hard work of many individuals. Special thanks must go to Mrs. Carter, our teacher-librarian, whose meticulous organisation and creative vision brought all these elements together seamlessly. Her passion for literature and commitment to fostering reading culture in our school was evident in every thoughtfully planned detail.
The Parents & Friends committee also deserves heartfelt appreciation for their generous contribution of the MOT breakfast, which provided the perfect foundation for our day of celebration.
Serve Up Hope - Pong a Thon for Freedom
What an extraordinary weekend it was! Our school community came together with Golden Grove Lutheran Church on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th August for our Pong-a-thon.
We are thrilled to announce that this incredible event raised over $16,000 to combat modern slavery around the world. This outstanding achievement reflects the generosity, compassion, and commitment of our entire school and church community to making a real difference in the lives of those trapped in slavery.
The partnership between our school and Golden Grove Lutheran Church proved to be a winning combination. The collaborative spirit was evident throughout the weekend, with volunteers from both communities working side by side to ensure the event's success. This partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when we unite around a common cause.
A huge thank you must go to Joel Schiller, whose exceptional coordination and organisation made this event possible. Joel's dedication, attention to detail, and passion for the cause were instrumental. His leadership ensured that every aspect of the weekend ran smoothly and successfully.
