Maths at Westgrove:
Free Resources!
White Rose Maths have created a free ‘1-minute maths’ app. The aim of the app is to develop
students’ understanding of number and is great for practising early number skills such as subitising (the skill of instantly recognising the number of items in a group without counting) addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The app is most suitable for pupils from Prep up to Year 3. More information can be found by clicking on the link. https://whiterosemaths.com/1-minute-maths

This semester we are continuing to award a prize to one correct entry for both problems. We encourage you to solve these as a family and have your child place the answer with working out into the Competition box (Now currently sitting outside the new sick bay). Winners will be announced during our Morning Briefing each Fortnight. This fortnight's entries are due by Friday the 29th of August.

English Update:
We have had a busy week celebrating all things reading!
Students have loved doing a range of activities including:
Author Visits- Our Prep/1 students had author Amy Adeney visit. She shared all about the writing process and students loved sharing story ideas together.
Author Visits- Our Year 2 and 3 students had author Mary Anastasiou visit. She shared how she writes stories and using rhyming words to make her writing engaging to her reader.
Author Visits- Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students are excited for their author Dean Rankine to visit on Friday.
We also had a successful Book Parade with both our staff and students dressing up in their favourite book costumes. We want to thank all the families from coming along and joining in on the fun!
Our Book Fair has been a massive success! Students were able to purchase new books to add to their collections at home. Proceeds from sales will go towards adding new books our school library.
