Iron Man-
Our focus in literacy this term has been around the novel ‘Iron Man’.
This week we have finished the final chapters of this novel. It was a wonderful and captivating ending.
At the end of The Iron Man, a monstrous space creature (Space Bat Angel Dragon) threatens Earth, but the Iron Man bravely challenges it to a test of strength and endurance. He wins by enduring intense heat, proving his resilience and forcing the creature to surrender. Instead of seeking revenge, the Iron Man shows compassion, prompting the creature to reveal its peaceful nature and vow to sing again. The story closes with themes of transformation, peace, and the power of empathy over violence.
Our next novel will be ‘Charlotte's Web’. So, look at this space for some fantastic work!
Maths
Over the next few weeks, students will be exploring 3D shapes and their properties through hands-on activities and creative challenges. They've learned to identify shapes like cubes, spheres, cones, and cylinders, and describe features such as faces, edges, and vertices. Here are some 3D shapes we have been focusing on this week.
Religion
We are moving into our next unit of work ‘Creation’. We know that God’s creation is a breathtaking gift that surrounds us daily—from the vast skies above to the intricate beauty of a single flower. It reminds us of His love, creativity, and intention in every detail of the world. As we care for and appreciate this gift, we grow closer to God. We will be looking at some real-life examples of how we can love and protect Gods creation
History
Students have discovered how different Wangaratta was in the past. As towns have changed a lot over time. Long ago, they were small with dirt roads, simple houses, and local shops. Today, many towns have paved streets, modern buildings, supermarkets, and fast internet. These changes have made life more comfortable and connected for everyone.
Celebrations and commiserations are two very different ways people respond to events, depending on the outcome.
Celebrations happen when something good or joyful occurs—like winning a game, having a birthday, or reaching a goal. People gather, cheer, and share happiness together.
Commiserations are expressions of sympathy or support when something disappointing or sad happens—like losing a match or facing a tough moment. Instead of cheering, people offer kind words and comfort.
Both are important ways we connect with others, whether we're sharing joy or showing care during hard times. Students have been working out what Australian Holidays are Celebrations or Commiserations, such as ANZAC day, Australia Day, Chinese New Year or Christmas.
