Congratulations
Recently, Koah from Year 6, was selected to represent South Australia at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Ballarat, competing in the Under 13s and running 3km. It was a great experience and he achieved coming 57th out of 75 registered runners, with a time of 12.18 minutes. Well done Koah!
Wellbeing Day - Friday 12th September
We are excited to share that our Wellbeing Day will be held on Friday 12th September (Week 8). This year’s theme is LEGO, and we are thrilled to welcome LEGO professional and Pilgrim School alumni, Micah Sarre, who will be running engaging workshops with our students. Micah will also share a little about his profession and his faith, making the day both inspiring and meaningful. It promises to be a fun and uplifting celebration of creativity, connection, and wellbeing.
Students can wear casual clothes on this day. Normal standards for hair and jewellery apply and footwear needs to be appropriate for normal class activities, including fitness (not slippers, thongs or slip ons).
Casual Day
On Friday 26th September (Week 10) we will be joining the ‘Loud Shirt Day’ fundraiser to raise funds to support children with hearing loss, as chosen by our Student Representative Team. The louder the shirt, the better! Think bold colours, crazy patterns, and fun prints.
A donation is requested from each student. Please use Qkr! for donations or cash on the day. The donation option is already open in Qkr! and will remain open until the end of the term.

Yard Improvement
We are pleased to share that some more new shade sails have recently been installed over the courtyard between the Main Building and the Oasis Building. These sails provide additional sun protection for our students and school community, making this area a cooler and more comfortable space for play, learning and gathering.
2026 Classes
We are very excited to announce we will have an additional Year 1/2 class at Pilgrim School next year.
In addition, we will have the two Foundation classes at the beginning of the year with our mid-year Foundation students forming a separate class. As with all of our classes, this class will follow the Australian Curriculum, but with a stronger emphasis on play-based learning.
If you have friends or neighbours who may be interested in enrolling in one of these year levels, please encourage them to contact us through our website or at enrol@pilgrim.sa.edu.au.
Worship and Assembly Videos
So parents don't miss out when you can't make it along to Worship and Assemblies, we will endeavour to film these to make them available for families to view. You can access videos via the link in the 'School Favourites' tile on the Compass App or Portal. Videos will remain available for viewing for approximately 4 weeks after the event.
Please note these are raw videos and not professionally filmed or produced, and whilst we aim to have these up for all Worship and Assemblies, there may be times when this is not possible.
We ask that you please do not share any part of these videos on any platform.
Instrumental Lessons
We have a number of camps, excursions and academic competitions happening this term. These dates and times can be viewed on the Pilgrim Calendar via the Compass Parent Portal. Please note that parents and caregivers are responsible for contacting music instrumental teachers when there is a clash between school events and your child’s instrumental lesson, or when your child is away for their instrumental lesson due to an appointment or sickness.
As indicated in the Instrumental Music Program booklet that was sent home at the start of the year:
Absenteeism
If students are absent on the day of their lesson, the instrumental teacher must be notified by phoning them directly, preferably at least 24 hours prior to their lesson. In the rare occurrence where this is not possible due to sudden illness, the teacher should be notified at the latest by 8.45am of the day concerned.
If students are going on an excursion/camp, or will not attend for any other pre-planned reason on the day of their lesson, where possible the instrumental teacher must be notified at least one week prior to the lesson. If this prior notification is given, the lesson may be rescheduled or a ‘catch-up’ lesson organised.
School Ambulance Insurance
Pilgrim School has an insurance policy with SA Ambulance Service, which covers the cost of ambulance transport for all students in the event of an accident or medical event at school or during out-of-hours school activities.
However, please be aware that this policy does not extend to pre-existing conditions, such as diagnosed asthma or anaphylaxis.
If a student’s pre-existing condition requires an ambulance whilst at school, parents/caregivers will be invoiced by SA Ambulance Service unless they have their own coverage. We therefore recommend you consider your circumstances. Cover is often provided as an extra through health insurance policies or can be taken out as a separate personal policy.

Student Led Conferences
On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th August, students in Years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to share their learning with their parents at Student Led Conferences. It was wonderful to see students sharing their learning enthusiastically across a range of learning areas - sharing letters they had written from the perspective of a migrant to Australia; giving their parents a spelling lesson, Playberry style; showing how a daily review is done in maths; sharing their presentations about a hypothetical trip to Indonesia; conducting a scientific experiment showing reversible and irreversible changes; and sharing successes in learning as well as goals and challenges. A highlight for many families was being able to experience the virtual reality world of the students’ disaster resistant dwellings, a combination of their learning about natural disasters in HASS and their learning in technologies. Thank you to all the families who made the time to come and share in these special evenings.

Book Week 'Book an Adventure'
Last week was filled with stories, activities and colourful costumes. During the week, students visited the library with their 'Book Week Passports', made by library volunteer Georgia, where they could share what adventures their reading took them on and stamp their passports with stamps from around the world.
The staff, with their 'piranhas', enjoyed welcoming the students at kiss'n'drop Friday morning, seeing all the creative dress up ideas. We are always excited to see how a cardboard box can turn into so many different characters. The Campus wide parade in the gym was filled with colour and smiles as students spotted the different book characters.
Thank you to the parents for their support with the costumes and making our Book Week a rich and happy experience.

Planning for 2026
If your family has different plans for 2026 and your child will not be returning to Pilgrim School next year, please remember the school requires a term’s notice of conclusion in writing. Please complete our Notice of Enrolment Withdrawal form by Friday 26th September (the end of Week 10 this term) to avoid paying a term’s fees in lieu of agreed notice.

Belong and Blossom Playgroup
Belong and Blossom is for children 0-5 years old and their parents and/or carers. It takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9.00am - 10.45am during the school term in the Tween room. Please contact the Front Office, so you can receive our weekly emails letting you know about the week ahead. Registration takes place during your first playgroup session.
This is a time to connect with other parents and for your child to begin their connection with Pilgrim and some of the teachers in the Early Years team. We have story, craft and play times. We share fruit together and end our session with a story and some songs.
