Write a Book in a Day

Write a Book in a Day

Congratulations to our team of Year 6 writers and illustrators who took place in this year’s Write a Book in a Day competition which raises money for the Kids Cancer Project.

The team met bright and early in the multi purpose room where they were told what they needed to include in their book – an electrician, a great uncle, a rocket, a restaurant setting and the issue was ‘a missing pet’. The students spent some time brainstorming story ideas and character traits and planning out the chapters in the book.

Finally it was time for the writing and illustrating. The team worked hard throughout the day collaborating with each other to make their story sound amazing. It was wonderful to see the students using their writing skills to uplevel their writing and include some dazzling descriptions in their work. The authors also helped our amazing illustrators with some expert colouring in skills towards the end of the day as the clock starting ticking down.

By 5.30pm all of the writing, revising, editing and re-reading was finally complete and the students enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner! It was a long and rewarding day where all the students worked hard to produce their fabulous book titled, “Bab’s Perilous Pillage”. A big thank you to Maegen, Jess and Jodie who worked with the team throughout the day.

Last week, during Book Week, the Write a Book in a Day team read their fabulous story to all of the classes, which was a wonderful way to celebrate and share their writing.
