Celebrating NAPLAN Success

Recognising the Achievements of Our Year 7 & 9 Students

Brighton Secondary College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 7 and Year 9 students in this year’s NAPLAN results. These assessments provide valuable insight into student learning in literacy and numeracy, and this year’s data reflects the dedication, effort, and growth of our students.

Our results show that both Year 7 and Year 9 cohorts have demonstrated strong progress, with many students performing at or above the state average. This is a testament not only to their hard work but also to the guidance of our dedicated teachers and the support of families who encourage learning at home.

The growth shown in these results is more than just numbers—it represents increased confidence, stronger skills, and a solid foundation for future learning. For our Year 7 students, these achievements mark an impressive start to their secondary education journey, while our Year 9 students have shown how perseverance and consistent effort over time lead to meaningful academic gains.

At Brighton Secondary College, we believe it is important to celebrate and acknowledge these successes with our community. Achievements like these inspire students to continue striving for excellence and remind us all of the positive impact that commitment, resilience, and collaboration can have on education.

As part of our NAPLAN success this year, we are proud to recognise the exceptional efforts of students who achieved the highest scores in their year level across each of the five NAPLAN tests—Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation, and Numeracy.

This remarkable accomplishment reflects consistent excellence across the key areas of literacy and numeracy and demonstrates not only academic skill but also dedication, focus, and a commitment to learning.

Year 7 Top Scorers:

Reading: Isaac

Writing & Spelling: Jessica

Grammar & Punctuation: Lily-Mae

Numeracy: Ziyu

Year 9 Top Scorers:

Reading: Isla

Writing & Grammar & Punctuation: Lucy

Numeracy: Aloysius

We also wish to congratulate and acknowledge our Year 7 and Year 9 students who achieved high relative growth in this year’s NAPLAN results.

High relative growth means that, compared to their last NAPLAN test two years ago, these students have made more progress than 75% of students who started at a similar level. This is a remarkable achievement that reflects exceptional dedication, focus, and persistence in their learning journey.

These students may not necessarily have achieved the very highest scores, but they have demonstrated the most significant improvement—and that is something to be truly proud of. It is a powerful reminder that effort, resilience, and a growth mindset are just as important as raw results.

We are inspired by their progress and look forward to seeing them—and all our students—continue building on their success in the years ahead.
