Hello Parents and Friends,
Our annual Athletics Carnival took place last week and it was a fantastic event. Just like in 2024, we had outstanding weather and this helped make the day such an enjoyable experience. Our Grade Prep – 6 students experienced a wide variety of track, field and novelty events. All students performed exceptionally well and I congratulate our Grade 3-6 students who have qualified to represent Templestowe Park at the upcoming District Athletics Carnival. A huge thank you to Mr Van Der Pol who always does an outstanding job in organising this very popular event.
Our special Sushi Day this week was very successful and the students loved the yummy sushi rolls. The School Council and Michelle Honan (Canteen Manager) will now discuss the viability of more sushi days in the future. We will keep everyone updated with our progress. We would like to thank Michelle for her coordination of the day. This was an extensive amount of work for her and she went above and beyond to facilitate late orders. We are very grateful for the work she does for our school community.
This week we had our Coffee and Chat with the Principals and we had a fantastic discussion about our support and enrichment programs. Parents provided us with great feedback and we are already working on ways to make improvements in a range of areas.
We also had our PFA meeting this week and preparations for the Father’s Day stall are well underway. There has been a small change as the Grade 2 students are participating in their camp experience next Friday 5th September. Grade 2 will now get to visit the stall on Thursday 4th September, in the afternoon, while the rest of the school will visit on Friday 5th September. Please see the PFA section of this newsletter and Compass for further information.
Have a fantastic weekend!
We are very excited to announce to the community that after 19 months of extensive work and preparation, the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) have provided the school with permission to proceed to a construction tender for our COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area). The new structure will be a steel structure over one of our asphalt basketball courts. This will mean that we will have a large, covered area for PE lessons, outdoor activities and whole school assemblies. This will be the first time in our 48-year school history that we have such a space. This project is being fully funded by the school and fundraising efforts by our PFA and school community. This is an exceptional effort by our School Council and families.
The tender process will commence immediately and close on the 23rd of September. After this time, a sub-committee of School Council will work with the project manager to select our preferred contractor to complete the works. We are planning to have the works completed as soon as possible; however, it is a major project and much of the work will need to be completed during school holiday periods. We will keep the community updated regularly throughout the process.
The Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) have launched a Safe Migration Project. This initiative is aimed at helping parents and carers establish safe travel habits with their children from the very beginning of primary school. Although this is directed to families as they commence primary school, we believe it is a great resource for all of our families.
Please see the links below to a short video and fact sheet about travelling to and from school safely. They are both excellent resources.

We really encourage all parents to access this information. Unfortunately, we regularly see many instances of unsafe driving and parking from some of our parents and carers. As we always say, it is all our responsibility to keep our students safe.
For families that are interested in enrolling their child in Prep at Templestowe Park in 2026, you can still enrol at Templestowe Park via the online enrolment portal.

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. Parents and Carers can access the survey from a link on the Compass Newsfeed.
