Middle and Senior Learning

Last week in Topic, Year 4 learned about Static Electricity and how it is a form of stored energy. In their experiment, they created little dancing ghosts that moved when they rubbed a balloon on a surface because the friction created static electricity!

This week, Year 5 and 6 have had two fantastic incursions, ‘Puberty and Respectful Relationships’ and ‘Skills and Wellbeing through Graffiti Prevention’.

During the ‘Puberty and Respectful Relationships’ session, students learned about the physical changes that occur during puberty and where babies come from. Throughout the incursion, students learned about respectful relationships and consent through age-appropriate discussions. Our students demonstrated great maturity, asked many interesting questions, and everyone learned a lot!

‘Skills and Wellbeing through Graffiti Prevention’ discussed topics such as ‘The difference between Art and graffiti’, ‘The issue with graffiti’, ‘What is peer pressure?’, ‘Making choices’ and ‘How to say no to peer pressure’. Our presenter, Xavier, was highly engaging and taught the students through discussion, role play as his alter ego ‘Z’, and great humour!
