Introducing Grace Before Meals at St Joseph’s
At St Joseph’s, we cherish nurturing not only the minds of our students but also their hearts and spirits. This week, we have joyfully introduced Grace Before Meals as a whole-school tradition. Each day, just before first break, our students take a moment to pause, give thanks for the food before them, and appreciate those who have prepared it. This special time of prayer has become a meaningful part of our daily routine, inviting everyone to be still, reflect, and share gratitude as a community.
Our Year 4 students have embraced this opportunity with great enthusiasm and care. They take turns leading the Grace over the PA system, growing in confidence and responsibility while inspiring reverence and respect throughout the school.
In the classrooms, teachers have been supporting students to learn the prayer by practising it together. It has been wonderful to see how quickly students across all year levels — even our youngest Preps — have embraced the words and meaning of the prayer. The unity and sense of calm it brings as students begin their eating time has been truly beautiful to witness.
The prayer we are using is simple, memorable, and meaningful...
We encourage families to continue this spirit of gratitude at home, perhaps even sharing the Grace at mealtimes. Thank you for supporting us in nurturing faith, gratitude, and community in the everyday moments of school life.
