Our school community showed incredible spirit and generosity at the recent DIY Big Freeze event, raising an impressive $3,499 for FightMND.
This powerful show of support brought students and staff together to take a stand against Motor Neurone Disease.
The event was packed with energy as brave teachers and students volunteered to be dunked with icy cold water—all in the name of raising awareness and funds for life-saving MND research. Cheers and laughter filled the air as each icy bucket tipped, creating unforgettable moments and uniting the school for a great cause.
This event was more than just fun—it was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together with purpose and compassion. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and cheered on their peers, and special recognition goes to our amazing participants:
Year 12:- Kizmet Omerogullari, Katherine Georghiou, Spiros Litras, Campbell Brain, Lucinda Hart, and Marco Holmes and

The DIY Big Freeze for MND was easily one of my highlights of the school year. It wasn’t just about the icy buckets (although they were very cold!); it was about coming together as a school community, having fun, and supporting an important cause.
Watching the students light up with excitement as they cheered each staff member and fellow student getting absolutely drenched was priceless. The laughter, the energy, the good-natured anticipation—it created such a positive vibe across the whole school.
A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, whether you braved the ice, donated, or simply cheered from the sidelines. It was a memory we’ll be talking about for a long time to come - one of the most fun (and cold!) days of the year!

The big freeze was an example of the great activities we can do to raise money for worthwhile causes. The amount of money we raised stands as an obvious sign of interest from the students and wider community. I really enjoyed dressing up and being part of the fun for the other students and I'd love to see similar things become a tradition for students and teachers at BSC.
