Principal's Report

As we near the end of the Semester, we can look back on what has been a very productive two terms for students and staff here at Epping Secondary College.

In term one we had our school review, and this has provided us with essential feedback that has helped us to set some key goals and direction for our new four-year strategic plan.

Over the next four years our two key goals will be to:

  • Goal 1: Improve learning outcomes for all students
  • Goal 2: Optimise wellbeing and engagement for all students

We hope that this focus on our students learning and wellbeing will help all of our students to be engaged learners and to be successful in their learning and preparation for future careers and pathways.

One of the most heartwarming moments this term was the student-led Breast Cancer Fundraiser. Organised by students in our Vocational Major program, the event was both a learning task and a tribute to a much-loved staff member affected by cancer.

Students applied event planning, financial literacy, and communication skills while fostering a genuine sense of community and compassion.

The success of the fundraiser underscored how vocational learning, when linked with purpose and empathy, can have a profound impact both within and beyond the school gates.

It has been a busy time for our Year 10 and 11 students who have just finished their end of semester exams and I commend them for the diligent way in which they have organised themselves and prepared for these exams demonstrating a real commitment to their learning.

Year 10 students are currently undertaking careers week and then will head out into the world of work next week for their Work Experience program. This opportunity to learn in a real work environment is an essential preparation for understanding future career opportunities and we hope that they gain valuable experience through this.

Year 10 had a fantastic camp to Phillip Island this term and our Year 7’s headed away to PGL Campaspe Downs in Kyneton enjoying the activities and adventures of school camp along with the fun of being away with their friends.

I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and warm winter break.
