Grade Two

We’re now over halfway through Term 2, and with assessment and reporting time just around the corner, our Grade 2 students have been working hard and giving it their all. They’ve been getting stuck into lots of exciting learning across all areas of the curriculum, and we’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved so far.
In English, we’ve been focusing on information reports. The students have been researching countries from all over the world and turning their findings into interesting information reports. During our Reader’s Workshops, they’ve been exploring non-fiction texts and developing their predicting and inferring skills.
In Maths, the Grade 2s have tackled a range of topics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They’ve also been learning about fractions, time, and most recently, chance and probability. We’ve continued to build on their mental maths strategies to help them solve problems quickly and confidently.
Our Integrated Studies unit this term has been all about ‘Social Justice’. The students have been learning about fairness, equality, and diversity, and exploring what these ideas look like in the world around us. They’ve also taken a closer look at their own family backgrounds and enjoyed researching the traditions, clothing, and food from different cultures.
One of the highlights of the term so far was National Simultaneous Storytime. The whole school took part, and Grade 2 loved listening to The Truck Cat! They had a great time joining in on follow-up activities based on the book.
We’re looking forward to the rest of the term and all the fun learning still to come!
