Book Week is Coming
Hello Chatswood Public School Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of another term. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Book Week is fast approaching, and now is the perfect time to start planning costumes for your children. This year's theme for Book Week is "Book an Adventure," which invites us to celebrate the incredible heroes who have taken us on thrilling journeys through perilous worlds, dark forests, jungles, and ancient ruins in search of treasure or to save those in need.
Adventure stories inspire our imaginations and transport us to places we can only dream of. When I think of adventure books, I am reminded of beloved heroes like Peter Pan, who whisked us away to Neverland—one of the first stories my mum read to me. I also think of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, whose quests in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit taught us the true meaning of bravery and friendship. Additionally, the expansive universe of Star Wars, which has become a significant part of the literary world with its novels and comic books, showcases tales of heroism and adventure that resonate with readers of all ages.
For our younger adventurers, there are countless characters to inspire creativity! Think of Winnie the Pooh, the lovable bear who enjoys honey and adventures with his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Or how about Pippi Longstocking, the spirited girl known for her imagination and unconventional escapades? Curious George, the mischievous little monkey, is another fantastic option for those who love to explore and get into amusing situations.
We would love to see as many students in costume as possible during our Book Week parade on Wednesday 6 August, which falls in Term 3, Week 3! Whether your child chooses to dress as a classic literary hero, a beloved character like Peter Rabbit or Madeline, or even a unique creation inspired by their imagination, we want to see their creativity shine. The parade will not only be a celebration of literature but also an opportunity for our school community to come together and share in the joy of reading.
More details about the parade will be shared as we get closer to the event, so stay tuned for updates. Let's make this Book Week a memorable adventure for everyone, filled with excitement, creativity, and a love for reading!
