From the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends,
Regional Cross Country success
In freezing conditions at the Yarra Valley Racecourse, our LPS runners showed incredible grit and determination at the Regional Cross Country event. Rooke ran an outstanding race to finish 13th, narrowly missing out on State qualification by just one position. Alex impressed with a strong 10th place finish, securing her spot at the State Championships, congratulations! Lulu powered through to finish 26th with a personal best, while Indigo and Keira also recorded PBs, showing their progress and perseverance. A huge thank you to Mr. T for his fantastic support and encouragement on the day. Well done, team!
Lunch with Leadership – Student Voice in Action!
On Thursday, our Grade 3–6 SVC (Student Voice Council) leaders were invited to a special event: Lunch with Leadership. Joined by the Principal Team, Miss. Manning and Mrs. Reynolds, students shared lunch and big ideas about how to make Lysterfield Primary School an even better place to learn and play.
Our SVC leaders came prepared, with thoughtful questions, clever suggestions, and plenty of passion. A major focus of the conversation was how we can improve our outdoor spaces. Students raised ideas around creating more designated eating areas, improving the placement and number of rubbish bins, and encouraging more responsible waste habits.
There were also some exciting suggestions for enhancing our school’s facilities. Students recommended redoing the lines on the basketball court, updating the Buddy Bench to make it more welcoming, and asked how close we were to the fundraising goal of building the Gaga Pit. We’re pleased to share that some of these ideas are already being planned for, watch this space!
One student spoke about the importance of making learning more challenging in the classroom, highlighting the value our students place on being stretched and engaged. Others shared ideas for before-school activities, including the return of a Running Club to get students moving and energised before the bell.
It was a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from our students and see their confidence, leadership, and care for our school community. Their ideas and voices matter, and Lunch with Leadership is just one way we make sure they’re heard.
Well done to our SVC leaders for representing your peers so thoughtfully, you’re making a difference!
With leaders like these, the future of LPS is looking bright, keep soaring, Pegasus crew!"
