Year 6 Highlights

Year 6s have been busy building Geocities as part of their unit on Shape. 

Students used the real life task of becoming town planners, designing their own city.

They used the concept of measuring and designing the buildings they wished to have in particular areas of a city. For example, including an industrial area, entertainment and residential districts. 

Students then worked together to put their planning together to ensure roads met up and buildings aligned. They were then able to create the 3D nets for their buildings and begin the construction process. Students used their creativity to design many different 3D shapes including rectangular prisms, cylinders and square based prisms. 

Year 6 students really enjoyed sharing their cities with their peers and the building process. They were proud of their imaginative cities that highlighted their knowledge in shape.
