And just like that, we find ourselves at the midpoint of Term 2! Your children have been hard at work — engaging in rich learning experiences and participating in Semester 1 assessments. These assessments provide valuable insights into your child's learning growth and achievement.
Assessment at Truganina College is an ongoing process, expertly led by our dedicated Assessment & Reporting Team—Director Rhiannon Porter, Assistant Principal Sharon Hunt, and Lead Teacher Courtney Hodgson. We are excited to soon share your child's progress in their Semester 1 Student Report Card, which will be available at the end of the term.
Building Connections with our Community
Last week, we were proud to further strengthen our community connections through the School Council. Our School Council President, Vinay Singla and I presented an exciting vision: a Truganina Cultural Festival, a whole-college celebration of our rich diversity, planned for early 2026.
We’re pleased to announce that the School Council has endorsed the commencement of planning for this major event in Semester 1 of 2026. I look forward to sharing the updates with you as we progress.
We are now seeking members for a working party to help bring the Truganina Cultural Festival to life. If you are interested in being part of this exciting project, please register your interest at the school office or email us at truganina.p9@education.vic.gov.au. Please mark your email 'attention: Principal'.
Stand Up Project comes to Truganina College - Anti Bullying Program
One of the highlights of this term for me as College Principal has been watching our outstanding Year 9 students engage deeply with the Stand Up Project, led by Dr. Zach Grieg.
This initiative is sparking important conversations across multiple year levels about what it means to stand up to unkind behaviour and language. It's fostering a shared language and clear expectations for respectful conduct across the College.
This work will continue throughout Years 5–9 and includes:
Targeted lessons delivered by students to classes across the College
Student-led professional learning sessions for our staff
A Stand Up Information Session for families- Wednesday 18th June at 3.30-4.30pm
F–2 Family Maths Night
Another standout event for our College where we celebrated the joy of Maths! Families joined students and teachers for hands-on maths games and activities. A huge thank you to our Mathematics Team, led by Assistant Principal David Yacoub and Maths Leader Melanie Park, for making this evening such a success. We hope families enjoyed the take-home activities to support Maths learning beyond the classroom.
Finally, a big congratulations to our Student Voice Team, led by James Bayard, who continue to represent student leadership with pride and purpose. Special congratulations to Kushal, Chitraksh, Violet and Prachi, who have been selected to attend the School for Student Leadership - Year 9 Residential Program Vic Dept of Education in Term 3—a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for our College.
I look forward to seeing you at our Truganina Learning Expo!
