Year 3/4 Cluster News

Home inquiry:

As part of our ‘How we organise ourselves’ Unit of Inquiry we are researching local and international resources and trade. A pantry audit record sheet has been sent home to identify the origin of local and internationally produced items within our household. We will explore the process these items go through and track the transport involved. We will be using this information on Tuesday, so please have this back by then.

Christian Studies: Exploring Christian Beliefs, focusing on the Trinity and how this informs a Christian view of the world. We will be focusing on who is God the son in closer detail.

Unit of Inquiry: As part of our ‘Who we are’ unit of inquiry we are exploring mindfulness strategies through the Mindup Program. This assists student’s emotional wellbeing and social skills and develop their understandings of how the brain operates.

For our current How We Organise Ourselves inquiry unit on Trade and Transport, we continue to explore processes involving in trade and transport locally and globally. As part of our learning in mathematics we are also focusing on money. Students learn to represent money values and calculate change for transactions using addition, subtraction and multiplication. Classes will also look at solving problems with money and develop understandings of financial literacy to plan a trade trip using a budget and look at fair trade and profit.

Reminders and information:

Parent Request: We are optimistically seeking expertise from any families or parents involved in trade or transport that may have resources or time to share with our classes about their role and responsibilities within this sector.

Celebration of Learning: This term the year 3 & 4 students will be holding their celebration of learning on Tuesday 16th September, beginning at 6pm with a presentation. We look forward to you joining us for this and sharing in your child's learning.
